They don’t use those rows of teeth for whatever reason, but they’re constantly moving their jaws around like they’re chewing on something. They swoop toward the King of Red Lions in an attempt to knock Link off of the boat and then… Swoop toward him, too. Despite being a tiny little island, the place is absolutely riddled with these monstrosities. These enormous flying pufferfish are dotted around the Great Sea, most notably the Southern Triangle Island, which is a plot-important island the player must travel to near the end of the first third of the game. ![]() In this game the rocks are big, vibrant, angular pink masses of… Well, you’d think they’re made of rock, but they certainly don’t look like it. The sea Octoroks actually wiggle them at you if you get too close, too, unlike their freshwater counterparts which hide underwater if you get too close.Īnd, as in every Zelda title that they appear in, Octoroks are octopuses which shoot rocks. It’d be hard to actually see the lower arms in-game, though most of the time you’d only see the long tentacles towering up from the water around them. They really don’t feel this big in-game unless you pay attention to it, but since the octopuses are more or less turrets that pop up and fire at you, you’ll probably be sailing past them without even a second glance.ĭespite their name, Octoroks in this game actually appear to have 8 arms and 2 tentacles, which is much more like real-life squids than octopuses, which instead just have the 8 arms. ![]() The saltwater ones have enormous craniums that are just covered in spikes and, as seen above, are about the size of the King of Red Lions with his sail up. This game’s iteration of Octoroks comes in two flavors: freshwater and saltwater. Though there’s not a huge variety of ocean-native monsters in this title, the ones that are there sure are… Well, huge! From: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind WakerĪs I’ve been replaying The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD recently, I’m astounded to find out that the ocean enemies are just as frightening now as they were over 10 years ago.
